                  About the biography of APJ Abdul Kalam, India's greatest scientist, technologist,  11th President of India, Indian missile man, father of Indian scientific development, great teacher and amazing orator respected by all, role model of future youth.

He was born on October 15, 1931 to Zainulapdeen and Ashiamma in Rameswaram, a small municipality in the Ramanathapuram district of Pampan Island, Tamil Nadu, India. He belongs to a Muslim family.

Adolescence:

Abdul Kalam started his schooling at a primary school in Rameswaram. But as his family was poor, he went to work for his family at a young age. He used to deliver newspapers during school hours and other times. He grew up as an average student during his school days.

College Life:

After completing his schooling, he studied Physics at St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli. In 1954, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics. However, feeling that he was not interested in the field of physics, he started his “study in space engineering” in 1955 at MIT, Chennai. Later he got his master's degree from the same college.

APJ Abdul Kalam as Scientist:




Abdul Kalam, who started his research career as a scientist at the Aeronautical Development Organization (DRDO) in 1960, designed a small helicopter for the Indian Army. Later, he continued his research work at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and played a key role in satellite launches on the Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV). In 1980, he successfully launched the Rohini-I satellite using SLV-III rocket. This was an achievement not only for him but also for India. Appreciating this amazing act, the central government honored him with India's highest award "Padma Bhushan" in 1981. From 1963 to 1983, he performed many tasks at the Indian Space Research Organisation He played an important role in the 1999 Pokhran Nuclear Test. APJ Abdul Kalam, who made India a nuclear power, has worked on five missile projects so far. He is widely regarded as the father of Indian military rocketry

APJ Abdul Kalam as President:

He won the 2002 presidential election and was sworn in as the 11th President of India on 25 July 2002. Before becoming the President, he was honored with India's highest award "Bharat Ratna Award" by the Central Government. He also became the third President to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. He was the President of the Republic till 2007 and was fondly called as "People's President". Abdul Kalam fainted while speaking on stage at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong on July 27, 2015.
